Summary

The most powerful depiction of the death of Christ ever written。 See that infamous day not through the eyes, nor the voice of other men, but rather through the eyes and voice of the Lord Jesus Christ himself。 He tells you of that day。 There has never been a more stunning, more heart-touching piece of Christian literature to be found in the English language as is The Day I Was Crucified。 Because it is His account of His own death, you will discover little known aspects of Christ's death。 You are also ushered into a presentation of the Lord's death as seen from the viewpoint of principalities and powers as they gather on Golgatha。 You will meet the embodiment of the law, of sin, and the world systemeven the personification of Death as he arrives on the scene to claim his victim。 The Day I Was Crucified stands out as literary excellence apart from virtually any books known in the modern era。

Gene Edward is an amazing story teller who tells an amazing story。 The way he creates his writing pulls you in。 It was wonderful to have the pieces drawn together of Christ and his death and have it told so creatively。

What a powerful read on the death and resurrection of Jesus。 Edward’s takes some creative liberties with the conversations that Jesus has on the cross with Satan, sin, the Law, and death, but they are extremely powerful。 Edwards is a wordsmith in these moments and allows the reader to feel the weight of all Jesus took on Himself on the cross。 That said, I would not include the Law as a character along the other three。 The Law was not taken to the grave with Jesus, but fulfilled in Jesus。 Paul is What a powerful read on the death and resurrection of Jesus。 Edward’s takes some creative liberties with the conversations that Jesus has on the cross with Satan, sin, the Law, and death, but they are extremely powerful。 Edwards is a wordsmith in these moments and allows the reader to feel the weight of all Jesus took on Himself on the cross。 That said, I would not include the Law as a character along the other three。 The Law was not taken to the grave with Jesus, but fulfilled in Jesus。 Paul is clear through Romans that the Law is not evil, but is rather there to point us to our need for a Savior。 The Law is good! Aside from that, this book captured my attention the whole way through and brought tears to my eyes on two occasions。 The first was the moment the thief on the cross asked Jesus if they had ever met, and Jesus tells him that He knew him before the foundations of the world。 Jesus knew him when he wrote his name in the book of life and claimed this thief as His own。 (Ephesians 1:4-5)。 The second was Jesus leaving the tomb and feeling the hole in His side。 Edwards makes a beautiful comparison to the Garden when woman was made from man’s side and the two were made one。 In this moment he connects that to the creation of the church as the bride of Christ。 This will definitely become a yearly Easter read。 。。。more

Hermoso libro! Te lleva en un viaje de la mano de Jesús en sus últimas horas。 Muestra la perspectiva física, emocional y espiritual de la crucifixión revelando en el proceso la dimensión de su Gran Amor。 Totalmente Recomendado!!!

There were some really thought provoking ideas in this book, but overall I had to constantly remind myself, “this is fiction not biblical truth。”

You are there! If you are looking for a book that will place you front and center to the events that took place on Good Friday look no further。 It will enlighten your perspective on the events surrounding the death of the Lord

It was an interesting take on the final days of Jesus。 I enjoyed the portion written in the first person, but found his chronological Scripture section at the end to be very confusing。 There were parts of the account that didn’t match up with the Scripture at the end, but I would recommend this book for the different, thought-provoking perspective it gives to the reader。

J E S U S。Edwards wonderfully wrote this two-part book about Jesus’ crucifixion from the first-person perspective of Jesus。 A bold move, but beautifully done。 The first part reads like a novel and is saturated in scripture。 Edwards then tells the resurrection story in part two by compiling all four gospel accounts into one。 Read it。 A powerful, moving piece that reignited my wonder at the gospel。

I am a huge fan of Gene。 The way he writes these stories that reflect real truth is fascinating! This book was no different。 It reads easy and quickly!

What a quick read! And yet, why am I surprised? It is Gene Edwards after all; but please don't mistake my comment - I don't mean that in a negative way at all! For anyone who is familiar with Gene Edwards' books, they will know that the books are short, sharp and to the point, not forgetting powerful。 Just one small paragraph on one page can have just as much of an impact as one chapter lasting 8 pages long。The first half of the book in Jesus' POV of his betrayal, crucifixtion and ressurection。 What a quick read! The second half of the book consists of all four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) put together in historical, chronological order following the Betrayal, crucifixtion and ressurection of Jesus Christ。As a Christian, I found this book very touching and humbling。 Jesus went through so much pain and hurt and yet, even at the last moment, when he was consumed by death, disfiguration and the stench of sin, He still looked at each one of us through space and time, to the past, present and future, and said, without malice or hatred or bitterness but love, compassion and grace "I did this for YOU, because I love YOU, Follow me"I think even if you aren't a Christian or even perhaps unsure of where you find yourselves and are searching, this is a great book to pick up to get another view point, another take on the sacrifice of Jesus。 If I took anything from this book, anything at all, it's that no one is too flawed, beyond saving, not worthy, to recieve grace and redemption and eternal life。 Jesus came for the Whosoever and it was for the whosoever that He suffered to the point of death, ' even death on a cross'And lets not forget, HE IS RISEN!Much Love, Nataliereadz 。。。more

Interesting!I liked this avenue! It made me really think about Easter differently, better。 I've looked at Holy Week, even Lent, more seriously after reading this。 I put myself in Jesus' sandals, if only for a few hours。 Historical fiction, but made me pause and pray more than once。 Interesting!I liked this avenue! The first part of the book tells of the Passion from the eyes of Christ。 Goes from the last supper through the resurrection。 Some confusing issues about a new species of people being made。 The last part tells the story as seen in the gospels。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 My 2nd book I read by Mr。 Edwards。Like the first book "The Tale of the three Kings" he had my attention from the beginning。 I loved the thoughts Jesus might have had during his crucifixion and makes the great story very personal。 If you enjoyed other books by this Author you'll enjoy this one。 Quick read。 My 2nd book I read by Mr。 Edwards。Like the first book "The Tale of the three Kings" he had my attention from the beginning。 I loved the thoughts Jesus might have had during his crucifixion and makes the great story very personal。 If you enjoyed other books by this Author you'll enjoy this one。 Quick read。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book。 I actually read it all in one day because I couldn't put it down。 The imagery that came to mind while reading it, was quite interesting。 Keep in mind this is "fiction" as the author couldn't actually know Jesus' thoughts; however, it was a new way to think about that fateful weekend。 I really enjoyed this book。 I actually read it all in one day because I couldn't put it down。 The imagery that came to mind while reading it, was quite interesting。 Keep in mind this is "fiction" as the author couldn't actually know Jesus' thoughts; however, it was a new way to think about that fateful weekend。 。。。more

This book attempts to give us an insight into thoughts of Christ during His Passion。 The purpose is to lead us to reflect on what Jesus may have been thinking or feeling, and what His surroundings might have been like: transporting us into the days of Christ's crucifixion。 Although the goal of the book is commendable, and at times it invited reflection on Jesus' crucifixion, the book ultimately fails at its goal。 It is filled with doctrinal inaccuracies, anachronisms, and fails to transport you This book attempts to give us an insight into thoughts of Christ during His Passion。 The purpose is to lead us to reflect on what Jesus may have been thinking or feeling, and what His surroundings might have been like: transporting us into the days of Christ's crucifixion。 Although the goal of the book is commendable, and at times it invited reflection on Jesus' crucifixion, the book ultimately fails at its goal。 It is filled with doctrinal inaccuracies, anachronisms, and fails to transport you to Israel in Jesus' times because of its vague descriptions and lack of depth。 It deserves more context, and apart from its smooth syntax and grammar: it is poorly written。That would be fine, were it not for the doctrinal errors in the book: most of which are found in the fictional account of Jesus' encounter with the personifications of: Sin, Worldliness, Law, and Lucifer。 These conversations are unbiblical, and misleading: sin is personified as the one to blame for all the worlds problems (as if men are its victims), the Law is illustrated as abolished (Jesus clearly states He fulfills the Law, not abolish it; furthermore the Law is good and it represents God's righteousness, it is not the devil's instrument, and it is meant to lead us to repentance —to recognize our need of grace— rather than to destroy us), along with other problems。 Although the fictional part of the book has a serious amount of problems (go to the Bible for truth, not Gene Edwards), it provides a remedy in the end by providing a biblical narrative of Christ's Passion with the Gospels as a guide。 This is the narrative you (as the author did) should cling to as a guide: it is faithful to the text, it is smooth reading, and it represents what REALLY happened。 I would not recommend reading this book, unless you have knowledge of Scriptures。 。。。more

It's incredible to think about what calvary must have looked like through the eyes of our Savior。 Definitely amazed by the Saviors love and by His obedience to the Father。 It's incredible to think about what calvary must have looked like through the eyes of our Savior。 Definitely amazed by the Saviors love and by His obedience to the Father。 。。。more

I was greatly looking forward to reading this during Holy Week (which I did)。 I was SORELY disappointed! There were so many factual errors in this book it got to the point I began to LOOK for them! Good grief! The mistakes include the timing of the crucifixion, going from first to third to first person, declaring that Christ rose on a MONDAY (seriously people?) and then indicating that there is a woman born out of Christ's side who is His equal。 Is this a reference to the Church? There is no explanation, yet the book says "she has no enemies。" REALLY? the Church has no enemies? What could have been a great devotional book filled with meditations for the holiest week of the year for Christians turned out to be a laughable pile of junk。 Don't bother。 。。。more

I had misgivings when I started this book as reading something as told by Christ himself turned me off。 We have four gospels that tell the story of the crucifixion。 I just don't think that someone else can tell a story in Christ's words。 Also the way the story started off by Jesus bleeding in the Garden troubled me。 We don't know these things unless I have missed them somewhere。 I received a free copy of this book for my honest review from Booksarefun。org。 I had misgivings when I started this book as reading something as told by Christ himself turned me off。 We have four gospels that tell the story of the crucifixion。 I just don't think that someone else can tell a story in Christ's words。 Also the way the story started off by Jesus bleeding in the Garden troubled me。 We don't know these things unless I have missed them somewhere。 I received a free copy of this book for my honest review from Booksarefun。org。 。。。more

Poetic fantasy。 Interesting to ponder。 It's a very quick read, almost in a gulp。 Still, I recommend it only for those who are already familiar with a more accurate version of the gospel。 This is book could be intriguing for seekers or new believers, but could also be misleading。 Poetic fantasy。 Interesting to ponder。 It's a very quick read, almost in a gulp。 Still, I recommend it only for those who are already familiar with a more accurate version of the gospel。 This is book could be intriguing for seekers or new believers, but could also be misleading。 。。。more

I have an aversion to movies and other types of fictional interpretations of Jesus。 I just do not want any incorrect ideas or expansion / reduction of what the Word says。With Edwards, I loved the Tale of Three Kings on David and read a snippet of his book on John the Baptist, and hope to read the whole book later。 I just did not enjoy the first half of this book。。。 I just am weird about any fictional narratives when it comes to our Savior。That said。。 the second half of this book is wonderful。 Th I have an aversion to movies and other types of fictional interpretations of Jesus。 I just do not want any incorrect ideas or expansion / reduction of what the Word says。With Edwards, I loved the Tale of Three Kings on David and read a snippet of his book on John the Baptist, and hope to read the whole book later。 I just did not enjoy the first half of this book。。。 I just am weird about any fictional narratives when it comes to our Savior。That said。。 the second half of this book is wonderful。 The second part is the narrative of Christ's Passion story。。 taken straight from the gospels。 It is a combination of the gospels written in narrative form, and every word is straight from Scripture。 THIS is really good! The Day I was CrucifiedAs told by Christ HimselfBy Gene EdwardsGene Edwards has a unique way of presenting the account of Jesus's crucifixion - an accounting as it would have been as seen through the eyes of Jesus。 The complete and utter despair that He faced when separated from His Father by taking onto Himself the entirety of humanities sin。 This is an eye opening book offers the reader a new view of the ultimate gift of God's love and His triumph over the grave。 The second part to this book i The Day I was CrucifiedAs told by Christ HimselfBy Gene EdwardsGene Edwards has a unique way of presenting the account of Jesus's crucifixion - an accounting as it would have been as seen through the eyes of Jesus。 The complete and utter despair that He faced when separated from His Father by taking onto Himself the entirety of humanities sin。 This is an eye opening book offers the reader a new view of the ultimate gift of God's love and His triumph over the grave。 The second part to this book is blending of the four Gospel narratives in a chronological story of the day Christ was crucified。I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher through TBCN/BookFun in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more

This was one of the most emotional books that I have ever read。 I feel that it gave me a picture of what Jesus could of been feeling the entire time of His crucifixion, before it and after it。 I recommend that people read this if they are able to read about the horrific things that Jesus went through。 This was a nice short read and I was able to read it within a day which was convenient for me。 I highly recommend this book。 A++
